ACCEPTANCE & COMMITMENT THERAPY

The aim of ACT is to maximize your potential for a rich, full and meaningful life by teaching you psychological skills to deal with your painful thoughts and feelings effectively and clarifying your values to help inspire, guide, and motivate you to change your life for the better.

In other words....

What are your values? What do they mean to you? These are a powerful motivator for your therapeutic process and ACT intertwined during therapy to help you live a life you want to be present in.

Skills work includes mindfulness to stay in the present and increase your ability to just notice the thoughts and feelings that come up and keep you stuck. Skills work also includes using metaphors and defusion to understand our unhelpful internal language and gain some space from all those critical thoughts that creep in for all of us every day.

ACT allows us to relate to our challenging thoughts and emotions differently in way that will help move us towards the things that we value.
